All tours include a quick stop at the Mushbowl Falls on the way to Helmcken Falls from Dawson Falls.
3 Waterfall Tour: The waterfalls visited on this tour include Spahats Falls, Dawson Falls, and Helmcken Falls.
Duration: 3 hours approx.
SUN PEAKS PICK UP: At 9 am you will be met by the Riverside Adventure guest van in front of the main Sun Peaks Resort building where ski rentals and ticket sales are.
DRIVE TO CLEARWATER: We will drive from Sun Peaks to Clearwater which will take approx. 1.5 hours.
THE MEET & GREET: You’re greeted and welcomed and then sign a standard waiver that outlines some of the risks and hazards associated with whitewater rafting. We walk together to the trip meeting location, located behind the building.
SUITING UP: We then ask everyone to get dressed up appropriately. Warm base layer, mid layer, and a good jacket and snow pants. Warm hat and gloves are also a necessity along with good winter boots. We also recommend neck warmers. You can always take layers off but adding them once we are out there is not easy. Once dressed you are outfitted with properly fitting Gaters (prevents snow in your boots) and snowshoes.
LOADING UP: The team moves into our 15 passenger van. We travel through the main park corridor into Wells Gray Provincial Park.
ARRIVAL: After a 25-minute drive (weather dependent), we stop at our first waterfall. Once we stop we get suited up in our snowshoes and head on in.
SPAHATS FALLS: A short walk brings the first of our frozen wonders. With many views along the ridge you are able to see all angles of this beauty. Make sure to look at the different layers of lava on the other side of the canyon. If you look closely you can count 12 distinct layers.
BACK TO VAN: When we are done at this amazing stop we trek back the 5 to 10 minutes to our chariot and head off to the next one of a kind waterfall.
DEPART SPAHATS: 10 to 25 minutes in the van to warm up as we head to our next destination.
ARRIVAL AT DAWSON FALLS: Get suited up again and head on down the trail. This gem of a waterfall is only minutes away.
BACK TO VAN: Once we are back to the van we will have some hot chocolate if we haven’t already and warm up on our way to our final and most spectacular destination.
DEPART DAWSON: We want to be nice and warm when we get to our last stop as this waterfall is unlike anything else in the world.
ARRIVE AT HELMCKEN FALLS: The final stop is arguably the most breath taking. Helmcken falls has a 143m vertical drop and the ice cone that forms around the base can grow to 50m+ tall. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. We stay long enough to really take it in and see it from multiple angles.
BACK TO VAN: Once we are back to the van we can gear down from our winter layers and get comfortable for the ride back to town.
CELEBRATION: While driving back we can enjoy some more hot chocolate while you guys can discuss your favorite sights of the day. We offer tours 3 days per week and for groups of 5 and up we can accommodate any day needed. Please call us if you have additional questions or would like to make a reservation. Call or email soon!
STOP AT GATEWAY GRILL: Before our journey back to Sun Peaks we will stop at the fantastic Gateway Grill for a quick bite to eat where we will get preferential fast service.
SHUTTLE BACK TO SUN PEAKS: We will drive from the Gateway Grill back to Sun Peaks. This will take approx. 1.5 hours.
DROP OFF AT SUN PEAKS: We will say our farewells and you will go back to your lovely accommodations with memories that will last a lifetime.
